Welcome to Project Lighting. By using this website you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, the Privacy Policy and such other policies as we notify you of from time to time, which together constitute the entire agreement between us.  Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects your statutory rights, either as a consumer or otherwise.

The online shopping terms and conditions apply to all orders which you, the customer place using our website, which is operated by Project Lighting Limited. Please read them carefully before placing your order and print a copy for future reference.

1 Your Account

You may register with us when purchasing items using this Website. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account username and password and for preventing unauthorised access to your account. You agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password. Please take all necessary steps to ensure that the username and password is kept confidential and secure.  Please inform us immediately if you have any reason to believe that your username and/or password has become known to anyone else, or are being, or are likely to be, used in an unauthorised manner.

Please ensure the details you provide us with on registration are correct and complete and inform us immediately of any changes to those details (e.g. change of email or postal address). You can access and update your details using the “My Account” area of the Website.

We reserve the right to refuse access to the Website, terminate accounts, remove or edit content, or cancel orders at our discretion. If we cancel an order, it will be without charge to you.

2 Privacy and Communications

When you place your order, we collect certain personal and transactional information (e.g. name, address, email address, credit/debit card details). For details on how we use this information, please read our Privacy Policy.

To fulfil our obligations to you under these Online Shopping Terms and Conditions we communicate with you by email and by posting notices on the Website. You agree to receive communications from us electronically and that electronic communications will satisfy any legal requirement for communications in writing.

3 The contract between us

When you place an order to purchase items using our Website this is an offer by you to us to purchase those items. By ordering you are providing details which are true, accurate, current and complete and that the credit or debit card details are correct and your own.

We will confirm receipt of your order by sending you an email confirming that we have received the order pending it being processed.  You need to be aware that the freight quoted on this website is only provisional and once the order is processed we will contact our freight suppliers requesting an updated freight quote. We will notify you of any financial or timing changes to this updated freight quote and if this quote is not to your liking you may cancel this order at no cost to you, and any funds received by us from you will be refunded in full within 3 business days.

Should you accept this quote then we will process your order with our manufacturer/supplier. This order is now deemed final and may not be changed or cancelled unless the manufacturer/supplier gives written permission as these items are made to order. This is the point at which we accept your order and the contract is formed.

Once the manufacturer/supplier has completed the production of your items we will then check with the freight supplier if their last freight quote still stands. If there is an increase or decrease in freight cost then these savings or increase in freight costs will be passed onto you. Please be aware freight costs are outside of our control so financial and time contingency should be allowed for by you. Project Lighting does not accept liability for any changes, breakages, issues or delays that are outside of our control.

We reserve the right to withdraw orders if pricing or stock issues arise.

4 Colours, specifications and dimensions of products

We have made every effort to display the colours, specifications and dimensions of items on the Website as accurately as possible. The colours you see will depend on the resolution of your monitor; we cannot guarantee that your monitor’s display of any colour will reflect accurately the colour of the item delivered. We may from time to time vary the dimensions, specifications and quantities of items displayed on our Website without prior notice. If you are unsure of any details please contact Project Lighting for clarification before ordering.

5 Content & Intellectual Property Rights

Project Lighting, its products, design services and content is protected by national intellectual property. You are only allowed to use content found on this website as expressly agreed by Project Lighting.  Any reproduction or redistribution of our products and content may result in civil and criminal penalties.

In addition to these intellectual property rights, the content, defined as: graphics, photograph, image rights, sounds, music, audio or text are to the best of our knowledge accurate and complete, however we cannot promise it is error-free. Project Lighting cannot promise the functions within the site i.e. html, content and functional aspects are error-free. This also relates to viruses and other harmful viruses, we always recommend that you should have up-to-date and complete virus checking software to protect yourself.

You also agree that no joint venture, partnership, employment or agency relationship exists between yourself and Project Lighting.  You will not express yourself as an employee, agent or representative of Project Lighting Limited and we are not liable for any representation, act or omission on your part.

6 Prices

Products are invoiced in New Zealand Dollar, Australian Dollar or Euros at the price prevailing at the time you place your order.  Prices displayed on the product pages exclude GST, however, Goods and Services Tax for New Zealand customers will be added and displayed on the Order Cart during the checkout process.

Delivery/Freight (National and International) charge is an additional cost. Please refer to our Freight and Delivery Policy for full details.  Although we try to ensure that all prices on the Website are accurate, errors and rate fluctuations may occur. If we discover an error in the price of items you have ordered, we will contact you as soon as possible. You will have the option of either reconfirming your order at the correct price or cancelling it. If we are unable to contact you, we will treat your order in respect of the incorrectly priced item as cancelled.

Prices displayed on the Website apply to online purchases only. They are not indicative of the price of identical items purchased in our store or partner stores by any other means. We reserve the right to update prices displayed on the Website at any point.

7 Payment

You may pay for the items which you order online by paying by direct bank transfer or requesting an invoice by us for later payment on the secure online order form. We regret that we cannot accept cheques, gift vouchers or cash as payment online.

Please note that we cannot guarantee the security of data when you communicate with Project Lighting via email. Accordingly please do not send us payment information using email. For details of the security measures we employ please read our Privacy Statement. Unless we are fraudulent or negligent we will not be liable to you for any losses caused as a result of unauthorised access to the personal and transactional information you provide us when placing an order.

8 Cancellations

If you wish to cancel your order, please contact us via email or telephone as soon as possible. We will process the cancellation as long as the order hasn’t started production at our manufacturer/supplier and our manufacturer/supplier has agreed to the cancellation.

As soon as we receive cancellation acceptance of your cancellation from our manufacturer/supplier of an item we will refund the relevant part of the purchase price for that item within three business days. This only applies if the order is cancelled prior to manufacturing and dispatch.

We regret that all our items ordered from Europe are made to order and considered custom or bespoke items. These items cannot be cancelled during or after manufacture or returned unless damaged or deemed faulty by the manufacturer/supplier.

9 Returns

Until you return items to us you are responsible for their safe keeping and taking reasonable care of them. We do not accept liability for returned packages damaged during transit back to us. It is your responsibility to wrap products adequately to prevent damage. Any items damaged, orders and/or samples, during transit may result in non-credit, warranty claim cancellation or full value item cost made to you.

10 Incorrect Items

If we have sent you an incorrect item, please notify us as soon as possible or within 7 days of receipt and we will arrange for the item to be replaced with the manufacturer/supplier. If you would like us to replace the incorrect item with the item you ordered we will send you the correct item as soon as possible or alternatively the manufacturer may refund the item once it has been returned.

11 Damages / Freight Insurance

In the event of receiving damaged or missing goods, and where liable, we will endeavour to rectify the situation as promptly as possible.  All damaged items resulting from freight services offered by Project Lighting and shortages must be notified within 24 hours of receipt of goods as long as you have chosen to insure the goods as part of the freight service. Please note uninsured freight goods suffering any losses or damages will not be covered by Project Lighting.

For insured freight items please contact our sales department with details of the damage, including a photograph of the damaged item and request a returns (RMA) number within 24 hours of receipt.  The contact email for our sales department is

We will take no responsibility for damages incurred in transit when using your own shipper. A signature from your chosen courier on collection confirms that they are receiving your order in good condition, and that boxes have been labelled in accordance with their specifications. Your shipper should provide you with the necessary insurance to cover your order.

12 Losses

We will not be responsible to you or any third party for any business loss (including loss of revenue, profits, contracts, anticipated savings, wasted expenditure, data or goodwill) or any other loss or damage which results directly from our actions or the actions of our sub-contractors or freight service suppliers.

Any liability to you under these Terms and Conditions will not exceed the total price charged for the items purchased. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes our liability to you for personal injury or death caused by our negligence.

13 Unpacking, Assembly, and Installation of items purchased

All items are packed by the manufacturer and supplied packaged. For any items that need assembly or installation we strongly recommend the use of a registered electrician.

We will not be responsible to you for any items damaged during unpacking of your purchased items or resulting injury or death during assembly or installation by you or any third-parties contracted by you or Project Lighting.

14 Events beyond our reasonable control

We will not be responsible to you for any delay or failure to comply with our obligations under these Online Shopping Terms and Conditions if the delay or failure arises from any cause beyond our reasonable control.

15 Alterations to this Website and Terms and Conditions

We reserve the right at any time to make changes to this Website, these Terms and Conditions, Privacy Statement and such other policies as we may notify you of. You will be subject to the policies and terms and conditions in force at the time you use the Website or order items from the Website. Changes which we are required to make by law could apply to orders which you have already made. If any of the terms and conditions forming the contract between us are deemed invalid, void or unenforceable for any reason, it will be deemed severable and not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining terms and conditions.

16 Waiver

If you breach these Terms and Conditions and we take no action we will still be entitled to use our rights and remedies in other situations where you are in breach.

17 Recessed Lighting – Suitability of Use, Compliance, Insulation and installation

17.1 Project Lighting shall not be liable for any installation or compliance issues in relation to products purchased through us. It is your responsibility to ensure that the goods purchased by you are fit for purpose and we will not be liable for any products not meeting your requirements beyond the specification of the purchased product.

17.2 It must be understood by you that none of our offered recessed lighting products conform to standard AS/NZS 60598.2.2-2016, Luminaires–Part 2.2: (published in February 2016) unless specifically stated in the product specification where recessed lights are completely covered by insulation. Our manufacturers do not recommend this method of installation and their warranty will be void if insulation has been found to sit on top of the supplied luminaire.

17.3 It is your responsibility to select and install appropriate quality insulation in the vicinity of our IC and/or IC-4 rated Recessed lights according to the conditions outlined in standard AS/NZS 60598.2.2-2016, Luminaires–Part 2.2: published in February 2016, that is safe to use and will not catch fire or cause damage to the lights, drivers, electrical cables or building, its contents or persons within. It is your responsibility to ensure that non IC and/or IC-4 rated recessed lighting are not installed within 300mm in any direction of any type of building insulation.

17.4 It is our recommendation to never cover recessed lights and related control gear and to maintain a minimum 300mm clearance around all recessed luminaires to ensure the longest possible lifespan and performance of the lighting product, even if the light fitting allows for full coverage by insulation. It should be noted that some manufacturers will void their warranty if the luminaire is covered by insulation.

17.5 It is your responsibility to notify us if insulation is being used so that we can ensure the correct lighting is being specified. Failure to notify us of any planned or existing insulation being installed next to, above or below our recessed lighting will be deemed by us that no insulation is being used within 300mm of our recessed lighting and adequate space is provided for heat dissipation of the said lights and control gear by you.

17.6 When proposing to use recessed lighting with insulation located within 300mm of the fixture It is your responsibility to supply and correctly install insulation that is deemed safe to use according to all appropriate standards relating to that country where the recessed lighting product will be installed. We take no responsibility for the type of the insulation used, its installation method or positioning in relation to our supplied recessed lighting.

18 IP Rated Light Fittings

It is your responsibility to select lighting and any related control gear or wiring that is IP (Ingress Protected) rated to the environmental that it is intended to be installed in. It is also your responsibility to ensure you purchase products that fulfil any building, regulatory, local authority or safety compliance standards.

19 Lighting Design Services

Project Lighting offers lighting design services based on a chargeable time and materials basis. The lighting design phase begins with either a written or verbal communication from the client and/or the use or reuse of any lighting design outputs i.e. lighting plans, 3D models, visualisations, technical documentation, calculations or simulations by the client or third-parties for discussion, that may or may not determine the final lighting design or supporting build outcomes (i.e. wall, floor or ceiling specification) within the same project.

Acceptance means you acknowledge use and acceptance of our design service fees, materials  and resulting transport costs, to which you will be invoiced as outlined in accordance with our fees structure on the Lighting Design Service website page. The only exception to this is if you receive a written fees waiver by email from Project lighting as part of an agreed and successful minimum order lighting procurement package order.

The Lighting Design service fees and associated costs are applicable regardless of who supplies the physical lighting products (partially or fully) for the same project.

20 Faulty Goods

If you believe you have a faulty product that was supplied by Project Lighting then please return the affected products to Project Lighting, 42 View Road, Wairau Valley, Auckland 0627, New Zealand within the products manufacturers warranty period. Project Lighting is not responsible for the removal/uninstallation and return of any faulty products to their Auckland premises.

Please ensure all products that are supplied by Project Lighting are properly installed and commissioned according to the manufacturers instructions (written or verbal) by a suitably qualified and experienced registered electrician. Please report any issues including buzzing, light performance issues, dimming issues or heat concerns without delay and disconnect any affected products from the electricity mains supply immediately.  

 Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand. You agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts, as do we.
