Freight and Delivery Policy
Our delivery policy is based on international delivery via DHL, UPS, FedEx (or other) from our European Manufacturers premises to our offices at 42 View Road, Wairau Valley, Auckland, New Zealand, or direct to our customers chosen delivery address.
Our international freight services are carried out by third-parties and charged at cost to our online, phone or email shopper/you/customer. Project Lighting will invoice you any applicable delivery costs and any additional customs duties, GST/VAT or other costs incurred during transport or customs clearance associated with your purchase.
Air freight and sea freight transport options are available for international freight. Please contact Project Lighting to discuss the right transport method for your order.
We currently offer delivery from Europe to New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and the Cook Islands only. Please contact Project Lighting prior to order if your project resides outside of these territories.
Delivery destinations is constantly under review and we will post a change to our delivery policy online if this should change.
For New Zealand orders we recommend picking up orders from our Auckland premises located at 42 View Road, Wairau Valley, Auckland, New Zealand. If this is not possible then please be aware that local New Zealand based Courier services are unlikely to offer suitable insurance cover for your purchased items should they damage or lose your items in transit. Project Lighting New Zealand takes no responsibility for any items damaged, lost or delayed by third-party couriers in New Zealand, or theft/damage incurred at the couriers premises or delivery address.
It is Project Lighting’s recommendation to use a door-to-door airfreight service (as listed above) for all projects located outside of Auckland. This ensures that Freight insurance covers both national and international transport.
Guiding Principles
Here are the guiding principles that shape our delivery policy:
We aim to get the most competitive freight cost for your order
We aim to get your products to you as soon as possible for the freight price paid.
We try to give you flexibility in terms of split deliveries if required.
We use shipping companies that offer online tracking facilities so you can check where your shipment is in the process.
We do not look to profit from delivery charges.
Delivery Duration
Our express freight service, usually offered by DHL, offers the quickest service from Europe to Australasia typically being 5 to 7 days excluding any customs processing and local delivery delays.
Our standard air economy service takes between 10 days and 2 weeks depending on loadings and customs delays. This can extend to many weeks if a local courier company is experiencing delays with their deliveries, so please allow contingency and plan well ahead.
Nearly all of our lights are made to order and are not carried as stock items. There can be a lead time of up to 10 weeks for large orders although most orders take between 2 and 4 weeks. If this is a concern then please contact Project Lighting for exact timings prior to order.
We offer the option of split deliveries on orders made that involve several manufacturers. This can also be the cheapest way to freight items from different European locations. Please note different manufacturers have different production lead times so expect staggered deliveries on multi-brand orders.
Please note that we reserve the right not to deliver an order if we believe the address is not secure, for example to a communal postal address or PO box. If this affects an order you place, we’ll notify you as soon as possible.
If a parcel is returned to us because there have been a number of failed attempted deliveries, we will offer to resend the parcel but there will be an additional charge for the postage and new packaging should it be required.
Customer Support
Freight from Europe to Australasia is very expensive. In fact we experience some of the most expensive shipping services and tariffs from international freight companies the world over. We ask kindly that all our customers remember that we are managing their freight management services for free and that sometimes issues do arise outside of our control. Please be patient and supportive and allow contingency in cost and time for your orders.
We are constantly looking to ship orders in the most cost-effective and secure manner. If you have good experience with an international or national sea or air freight company that operates to/within New Zealand or Australia then we would love to hear from you.
Changing or Cancelling an Order
If you wish to cancel your order, please contact us via email or telephone as soon as possible. As we try to process orders immediately it may not always be possible to prevent an order from being manufactured. If your order has already started manufacturing then it’s down to the manufacturer whether they cancel the order or not.

We regret that custom or bespoke items cannot be cancelled or returned unless damaged or not as requested.
